Deep in Dresden – Interview on Zero“

Posted by in News, Press english, Press/Reviews

Jacob Korn is Germany’s great new house music hope, combining sophistication and rawness in his productions for labels like Running Back and Dolly. We talk to the up and coming producer about his music, his background in media art, and Dresden’s new Uncanny Valley imprint. Over the past few years small but highly noteworthy scenes for electronic music have been flourishing in the cities of former East Germany. Labels like Moon Harbour have put Leipzig on the map, Jena became known for its Wighnomy Brothers, and lately things have been…read more

2010 BLOGGING Wrap Up

Posted by in News, Press english, Press/Reviews

This is a collection of some 2010 blog-posts and nice words…enjoy! About that sun What is it with Jacob Korn and the sun? Perhaps he fels deprived of his hours of sun during the sommertime, something that most of us northern europeans could relate to. Although it’s tough to recreate on record, it’s worth a shot. After all, it’s hard not to be jealous seing videos and images from Sonar, Ibiza and whatnot with plenty of sun and good vibes. Especially when you look out your window, only to find the…read more

Kritik von „Uncanny Valley 01“ in „DE:BUG“

Posted by in News, Press/Reviews, Presse deutsch

Posted by in News, Press/Reviews, Presse deutsch

RA winds up its year-end polls with the staff’s take on the top tunes of the year. One thing you probably didn’t see coming in 2010: the glorious return of the anthem. Unlike last year, when ultra-subtle tracks like STL’s „Silent State“ made the top 5, 2010’s top 50 is packed with unapologetically catchy bangers, most of which probably got as much play in Ibiza as they did in Berlin. It’s as if club music finally became so niched that the crowds once again yearned for collective experiences. Indeed, if Motor…read more

Review of „Uncanny Valley 02“ on Resident Advisor

Posted by in News, Press english

With Uncanny Valley’s second release, the label’s name makes perfect sense: this crew of musicians from the Dresden Elbe Valley has a truly uncanny knack for the particulars of American house. You could figure that much out even without Kelli Hand’s guest vocal on Jacob Korn’s „Dance Away,“ in which the veteran Detroit producer and DJ sends shout-outs to „Dresden house heads“ alongside Motor City figures like Omar-S, Mike Huckaby and Detroit itself, repeatedly. Detroit, Detroit, Detroit: it’s easy to get hung up in hagiography, but when the homage is…read more
