Review of „She EP“ on LWE

Posted by in News, Press english, Press/Reviews

[Uncanny Valley] (buy vinyl) (buy mp3s) Dresden’s Uncanny Valley label debuted in the second half of 2010 with the first in an ongoing series ofcompilation EPs. These records cull from a considerable roster, and largely define the label as a haven for new talent. In spite of this, Uncanny Valley’s first solo release comes from label staple Jacob Korn, a reasonably established artist. Unsurprisingly, it paints a more coherent picture than prior records. On “She,” Korn delivers an escalating piano house tune underscored by organic percussion. It’s a soaring track,…read more

Review of „She“ EP on Juno

Posted by in News, Press english, Press/Reviews

Hype is a funny thing. Sometimes an artist can go from unheralded underground producer to much-discussed dancefloor hero in the blink of an eye. That’s what’s happened to Jacob Korn. Less than a month ago, the Uncanny Valley man was being described by deep house nerds as one to watch; now, he’s widely regarded as one of Germany’s most talented exports. So what’s changed? This release, that’s what. The Dresden-based producer had already built up a bit of a reputation thanks to some seriously good releases on Dolly, Left Of…read more

Resident Advisor Label of the month: Uncanny Valley

Posted by in News, Press english, Press/Reviews

The new house (and techno and acid and downtempo and more) sound from Dresden. In the internet age information comes thick and fast. You simply can’t keep up, and you can’t rightfully claim ignorance. It’s right there in front of you as long as you’re willing to look. It wasn’t always this way of course. Certain cities—for a long time—had advantages over others. Better newspapers. Better radio stations. Better access to information. Dresden was not one of these cities. After suffering a massive bombing campaign by the Allied forces in World…read more

„Uncanny Valley“ Portrait in Groove 130

Posted by in News, Press/Reviews, Presse deutsch

…   Sascha Uhlig, Groove 130.

Workshop at Future Everything Festival (The Factory, Manchester 2011)

Posted by in Education, News, Performances

We were invited to be part of the Future Everything 2011 conference in Manchester, during which we were asked to build something from scratch. The result of this 3 day Open Workshop is an interactive audioreactive instrument built on the basis of Switchboy, a visual-framework for realtime A/V-performances in large venues. By day we worked on this installation, by night we played an A/V-show in the famous venue The Factory (FAC251). Jacob Korn was in charge of the music, schnellebuntebilder provided the visuals. intolight.de jacobkorn.de schnellebuntebilder.de clubtransmediale.de/projects/icas-ecas.html   Related articles…read more
